BACKLASH on women’s basic rights and freedoms July 17 – August 11, 2012

Chain was on exhibit at Soho20 Gallery, Chelsea New York City, until August 11, 2012. I painted it shortly after my first child was born and to me it represents both the restrictions of child-rearing, and the “chain” of familial relationships being positively solidified. The upper corners’ images represent exploiting resources (poisonous gas wells on the left) and the ascension of business and religious towers on the right. The “mother and child,” represented by a common, idealized, advertised image for a highly manufactured “safe” soap, recede into the lower shadows.

Welcome to my brand new WordPress Blog!  I’m hoping to either import this into my existing website, or export my website here.  I’ve never blogged about my art much, but this is a good idea.
